Performance Indicator

This PI captures the number of cases where a crew member is injured resulting in a permanent total disability.


DefinitionThe number of recorded cases where a crew member or any person being part of the ship's complement (e.g. officers, ratings, cadets, superintendents) has work injury which incapacitates the individual permanently resulting in termination of employment on medical grounds (e.g. loss of limb(s) permanent brain damage, loss of sight) and precludes the individual from working either at sea or shore.

Example

A crew member during mooring operations gets hit by a rope and breaks his back in Q4 and as a result he is permanently paralysed. The case should be reported in Q4.
